ETHYLENE PROPYLENE RUBBERS (EPDM)

EPDM is a terpolymer made of ethylene and propylene, serving as a curing site monomer.

ABOUT EPDM

EPDM can withstand temperatures of 150°C and exhibits excellent resistance to ozone, oxidation, and even low temperatures. The quantity of curing site monomer will influence the rate and state of curing. A fully saturated copolymer of ethylene and propylene is available for applications that require immense heat stability (170°C). Furthermore, EPDMs are non-polar, which allows polymers to offer excellent resistance to polar media such as water, alcohol, ketones, etc.

Due to its inherent qualities, EPDM is used in multiple industries, including automotive, industrial, and construction. EPDM is also well-known as an outdoor rubber because of its resistance to acids and alkalis. Therefore, it is commonly used for roofing, sealing windows and doors, or waterproofing sheets.

Copolymers and terpolymers are available (with or without oil content).
