BUTYL RUBBER (IIR)

Butyl rubber (IIR) is a versatile material that offers outstanding resistance to oxygen and ozone and good chemical resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic media.

ABOUT BUTYL RUBBER (IIR)

Butyl rubber (IIR) is a synthetic rubber made with copolymerizing isobutylene and small amounts of isoprene. It is highly valued for its outstanding resistance to gas and water permeability, chemical exposure, and durability against weather conditions.
Depending on the formulation, it generally withstands temperatures from -60°C to +150°C. It also exhibits great resistance to multiple media, such as chemicals (including alcohols, ketones, dilute acids and alkalis, and various oils and greases), weathering, ozone, aging, and electrical insulation.
All these features make butyl rubber suitable for multiple applications in different industries, such as sporting equipment, seals, tank linings, adhesives, tires, etc. Contact us today to learn about butyl rubber (IIR) and other polymer products.
