NITRILE BUTADIENE RUBBER (NBR)

Nitrile rubber (NBR, Buna-N) is a copolymerized synthetic rubber made of acrylonitrile and butadiene.

ABOUT NBR

Nitrile butadiene rubber is generally used in applications requiring resistance to oil, fuel, greases, and other chemicals. A higher percentage of ACN in the polymer results in increased polarity, leading to better oil resistance. However, as the ACN percentage increases, the glass transition temperature also rises.

Multiple grades of nitrile butadiene rubber are available to meet the specific application requirements. These include standard NBR to low mold fouling grades, with a variety of Mooney values from very high to very low. Furthermore, we offer clean, nitrile/PVC, carboxylated, and powder grades.

The benefit of using CLEAN line over regular nitrile rubber is that it reduces mould fouling, allowing for additional injection cycles with fewer interruptions for mold maintenance. It also improves the manageability during transfer and injection molding. Carboxylated nitrile rubber increases traction, abrasion resistance, tear strength, and modulus performance.

Copolymers and terpolymers are available (with or without oil content).
